Shenzhen

26th July 2009 (Sun)

Had a late night the day before but we still woke up at 9am to visit one of Shenzhen's tourist attraction: Window of the World (世界之窗). It's a theme park with resized reproduction of about 130 attractions of the world all squeezed into a small land area.. and there are rides too.. but need to pay additional amt to ride it..

Before that.. view from Jia Wei's dad's flat.. can see the surrounding mountains!!

Out and hunting for breakfast! Jia Wei in her home attire cause she's not joining us to the attraction :)

Breakfast at a hong kong style eatery~ Century egg and chicken porridge, char siew and pawn chee cheong fun, Hong Kong style french toast!
After breakfast, said bye to Jia Wei and we went to take the public bus to Window of the World~
- Walking to the bus stop-

Upon getting off from the bus, we saw this weird looking building.. looks like logo blocks! lol..

Entrance to the attraction! hee.. those who have played 'Spot the Difference' on facebook before.. remember the picture on the top left? haha..

The whole theme park is divided into eight scenic areas.. the World Square, the Area of Asia, the Area of Oceania, the Area of Europe, the Area of Africa, the Area of America, the Sculpture Park and the International Street..
We managed to walk to most of it.. :)

The World Square..

The Area of Asia.. which include merlion to represent Singapore! :)
- Shwedagon Pagoda (Myanmar), Kyongbokkung Palace (South Korea), The Grand Palace of Thailand, The Pure Land Monastery (Malaysia), Merlion (Singapore) -

I especially like the few reproductions below because they bring back memories of the stuff i learnt abt them in US.. their history and the meaning behind each of their architecture.. :):)
- The Sanchi Stupa (India), Bhaja Caves (India), Bhaja Chaitya Hall (India) -

And another of my favourite.. Taj Mahal (India)!

Still in Asia.. but in the land of the rising sun.. Japan!

- Himeji Castle, Itsukushima Shrine, Fujiyama (Mt. Fuji!), Tea House, A Japanese Performance, and Japanese Garden -

And it is at here that we saw a mini waterfall.. and Wei Chen and Hui Fang started this Indian slang waterfall talk.. hhaaha

Moving on.. The Area of Europe!! the place i always wanted to go~~

- The Colosseum (Italy), Windmills (Holland), Saint Michel Abbey (France), The Acropolis of Athens (Greece) -

- Stonehenge (Britain), Eiffel Tower (France), The Pisa Leaning Tower and Church (Italy), Triumphal Arch (France) -

- Palace of Westminster / House of Parliament (Britain), London Tower Bridge (Britain), The Mazes (Britain) with Venetian in the background, Buckingham Palace (Britain) -
Moving on to the Area of Africa..

- The Great Temple of Aby Simbel (Egypt), Pyramids! (Egypt) and inside it.. -

The Area of America! First up is USA..

- The Grand Canyon (which didn't look like it at all!!), Nigara Falls, Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmoore National Memorial (which i really wanted to see but it is under renovation to include some rides..) -
A beautiful picture of America Falls taken by Wei Chen.. The water really look very smooth..

- The White House (Front and Back), Lincoln Memorial, and New York City (with the World Trade Center) -

South America..
- Mount Corcovado (Brazil), The Statues of Easter Island (Chile), Totem Poles of North American Indians, Linear Drawings at Nasca (Peru) -

Yup by then we were super tired already.. cos the sun was burning hot for the whole day!! we were burnt! and the place also was not very small.. lol..
We left the park at abt 5+ and arranged to meet up with Jia Wei for dinner..
We took a cab to 华强北路 somewhere there.. which was a place full of buildings with electronics and camera shops..
in the end decided on Aijisen.. the place was super duper crowded!! never see Aijisen that crowded before! Business super good! but they dun allow us to take photos :( why?? so below are the only few photos we took..
After dinner, we were too tired to walk around any more.. so time to head back home.. :)
